This Scheme assesses archival surgical Haematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) stained sections, and special stained sections, on a rotational basis as listed above. 2 unstained sections are provided to each participant for A & B, as designated on the accompanying delivery letter issued with each assessment run. Stain A comprises a routine Cellular Pathology method, and stain B a specialist Neuropathological method.

Rationale

If a method is not specified, the laboratory / organisation is free to use any suitable technique to demonstrate the target. The methods in list B may include immunocytochemical techniques where that is the organisation’s method of choice.


Submission

2 archival H&E stained sections plus, one of each A and B specialist stain is submitted for peer assessment per run.
