Rationale
The Diagnostic Cytopathology Scheme is designed to assess the quality of cellular preparations, and their appropriate sampling, preparation and staining for diagnostic purposes. All of these stages need to be completed to the best of our ability in order for the pathologist to have the maximum amount of accurate information in order to inform to inform an accurate diagnosis for the patient.
Submissions
2 archival stained preparations, from 2 distinct cytology specimens, for the specimen types detailed with each assessment distribution.

Whilst guidance does not specifically exclude H&E as a cytology stain, it equally does not advocate its use, and is not accepted as part of this EQA Scheme. H&E staining for Diagnostic Cytology is assessed as part of the Cell Block Scheme
