Whole slide imaging (WSI) is transforming the world of cellular pathology; this technology holds many benefits with regards to laboratory efficiency and productivity. However, this technology also introduces new quality control complications not previously encountered within the laboratory. This scheme considers all aspects of image production and the quality of the WSI itself.

Rationale

The Digital Pathology Scheme is designed to assess the quality of the digitisation of a physical glass slide by comparing the physical H&E stained section to the WSI, providing concordance, informed assessment and feedback. The digitisation of the slide must not impact the quality of the image, its colourisation or the suitability of the image for correct diagnosis.

Submission

1 retrieved H&E stained section alongside the corresponding digital image per asset. An asset is a digital slide scanner. Participants can register as many assets as required.
