TEM is carried out in several specialist centres and departments and represents an important and valuable tool in patient diagnostics. This specialism requires in depth technical knowledge along with a judgement of what images and ultrastructural information are relevant to the Pathologist.
Rationale
The TEM Scheme is designed to assess the quality of tissue preparation, section contrasting and image capture for diagnostic Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM). All these stages need to be completed to the highest quality in order for the pathologist to have the maximum amount of accurate information to inform and complete a diagnosis for the patient.
Submission
4 digital images from 2 archival TEM analysed samples, of 2 distinct TEM biopsies (8 images in total) as indicated on the delivery letter. Participants can submit an alternative specimen type, if necessary, as to not exclude participation.
